1-2-3-4- Give Me Five!

Nov-5-2008 By Melissa

I have to give my two year old credit for coming up with this game. I caught her making up this little game to teach her one year old sister to count - How cute!!!

  • Hold up one finger, have your child hold up one finger, touch fingers and say ‘one’.
  • Hold up two fingers, have child hold up two fingers, touch fingers and say ‘two’.
  • Hold up three fingers, have child hold up three fingers, touch fingers and say ‘three’.
  • Hold up four fingers, have child hold up four fingers, touch fingers and say ‘four’.
  • Hold up five fingers, have child hold up five fingers, say Give Me Five and give each other a high five!

This is such a good use of senses to teach counting. Child will learn by sight, sound and touch.

A Colour Day

Oct-23-2008 By Melissa

Designate a particular colour for your colour day.

For example if you (or your child) choose yellow then wear something yellow, eat banana’s and eggs. Go outside to look at the yellow flowers, paint a yellow picture and point out all the yellow things you see that day.

This is a fun way for little ones to learn their colours and all the different shades that colour has.

Make An Origami Bat

Oct-21-2008 By Melissa

Gretchen Siegchrist posts a video and instructions on how to construct an Origami Bat. This would be a wonderful way to involve your kids in decorating the home or classroom with halloween decorations. Along with some ghosts and pumpkins you will have a festive looking room!
